Emily Ponsonby is a British artist, living and working in the Cotswolds. Her work delves below the skin to question how it really feels to be nude, to be natural and to be of the earth.
It is a state of mind, of vitality, honesty and curiosity that she strives to draw from the layers of her paintings. A gentle dialogue between subject and artist that transcends time and place. It is this essence of timelessness that draws her to the nude. She helps her models see their bodies through the eyes of an artist. To see them for the beauty of their existence with every breath they inhale.
Her current work explores the remedial effects of water. The feeling of physical and mental weightlessness when fully submerged and the rush of endorphins that race through the body post emerging from dark, silky waters.
